Writing To, For & Through All Women, Everywhere.

In writing to women, for women and through women, challenges can be plentiful in order to reach all ends of the spectrum. From creating an aesthetically pleasing website to all eyes and preferences (I'm in the process of changing my city background theme, which I simply thought was beautiful, but my friend brought to my attention that this theme was restrictive as it pointed only to city women), to creating blog posts that reveal women in all different lights, from all different backgrounds and perspectives to reach as many women as possible. Luckily, mobile journalism has the ability to help in this process.

Building a community around an actionable hashtag and image is a very important aspect of branding yourself. For example when a woman sees a certain image, say, a pair of red lips, they would automatically think "Unapologetic Woman." The challenge in this (something I'm facing right now in my own branding) is coming up with a symbol or image that is unlike anything else you've seen--something that is truly unique and identifiable solely to your brand. I think that mobile can come in handy with this, as my blog and brand starts to increase and gain attraction and followers, by women documenting their lives and their stories through their own photographs--real photographs--that can bring themes to the forefront. That is the point, after all, that the "Unapologetic Woman" blog and brand will be open to contributors and their insight will fuel the entire thing. Us as women will come up with the image together, and thus strengthen the meaning behind it in that happening.

Relevance is another aspect that is definitely key, especially as you want to relate to your followers but want to maintain your image and your brand and empower that specific niche instead of broadening the gap. For my specific niche, this means not posting articles, links, etc. that don't empower or inspire women. This doesn't mean these articles or links would bring them down, but how many women want to look at a blog their following for inspiration and see

Or how many people want to see a post every single day about how they need to lose five pounds and here's how" articles... What's so "empowering" about that? Mobile helps with this, especially in my beat, as women will be able to post their own ideas, lifestyles, etc. and express themselves through raw photographs. This will help me in realizing their interests (or lackthereof), what to continue writing about and what to add to my website for extra attention and following.

I still have a long way to go, but mobile journalism will prove to be a beneficial tool in expanding my site and my audience while neither straying too far from their interests, wants and needs or boring (us) in the process.

What do YOU think?

; mobile helps to make it real; helps reach different places;

helps: connects news audiences to stories emotionally (raw, real images);

hinders: ethical dilemmas posed by new format;

giving too much availability, leaving little room for credibility (but who cares, right?);
